Blog #16

What I learned this week in this weeks readings is how different some cultures are. What readings I liked the most were about the deaf community. I think that deaf people are extremely intelligent and I like how we got a look into their world. I know I have a really hard time understanding a lot sign language and I only know minimal things but it is fascinating to me that people can communicate with their hands. The concept of not being able to hear is so foreign to us that it is hard to understand the perspective of being born into a hearing family when you are deaf. Deaf people should get more props for being so good at what they do. They have a great sense of awareness and being optimistic. I love meeting deaf people because I respect them so much. Their community is so much different than ours and if we could see how it does work I think it would open up new doors to both communities. Everyone faces challenges and to be able to live a normal life without being able to hear is incredible. Breaking the language barrier between the two different communities gives the world new opportunities to make more connections as a human race .
