Blog #8 Walking Canvas
I have two tattoos and lately tattoos have been a controversial topic. In my opinion I think tattoos are pieces of art. I don't really understand why people are against them. It is your personal body and I think every person has a right to have tattoos if the please. We pay money to go to art museums but there is art work on people that walk down the street everyday. As an artist it is my dream to have my art permanent in the world. That is what tattoos are. I know my tattoos have meaning. The tattoo artist's that gave them to me are artist that consider my tattoos their art, and it is understandable. I notice tattoos because they have individual beauty. Everyone is human and I think tattoos are a great way to express yourself. It gives talented artist the chance to make their art always permanent. Although judgement will always be present in a humans world. I think people should have an open mind to the walking canvases that are all around us. I will never regret getting tattoos because it is a representation of who I am, and more people should have that in their minds. When you point and stare and say something rude, it is an injustice to that person and to the artist. So think of tattoos as something that is precious and real because they are our thoughts in our heads.

Jordan,
ReplyDeleteI didn't know you had any tattoos! I am curious to know what they are! As for myself, I only have one tattoo, and the truth is that I get judged for it a lot! But I love it nonetheless! I completely agree that tattoos are pieces of art just like any painting, drawing, or piece of music that's out there. I think that people who disapprove may simply not understand, or not share our appreciation for the art form. Lack of understand often leads to prejudice and judgment :/ but I think I speak for both of us when I say that those people aren't going to stop me from getting more tattoos!
